What’s it like checking out free live music in the Doylestown Music Scene every night for a week?

Since my website advertises free live music every day of the week in the Doylestown PA area, I decided to check out the venues for myself every day for a week. What a great job to have! At each place not only did I hear good music, but people from staff to patrons were friendly & made me feel welcome.

Bobby Simone's 2009 by DoylestownMusicScene.com (wco).JPG

Yes there is live music in town on Monday night! The house band at Bobby Simone's played jazz to a packed bar.

LimeLight umbrella by DoylestownMusicScene.com (wco).jpg Tuesday's piano bar with George Sinkler at LimeLight was just the reward after a long day of office work. As soon as I arrived, George asked what song I wanted. And he knew it! Turns out the people gathered round had been celebrating the anniversary of the very same musician who'd written "my" song, & had been singing songs from his other musicals! Then on to Bobby Simone's where Jamie Stem finished off the night, playing until midnight with his appeal-to-every-age acoustic guitar & vocals.

PUCK Mermaid by DoylestownMusicScene.com (wco).jpg

Wednesday took me to PUCK with my significant other for open mic night. Really good singer/songwriters from age 21 to post-retirement age took turns doing 2 songs each, accompanying themselves or each other with guitar, flute, keyboard, drums. What variety!

LimeLight bar (wco).jpg Thursday Rich G, acoustic guitar & vocals, a relaxing & perfect background for a quiet conversation with a friend at LimeLight. Did you know that LimeLight has live music almost every evening?

Friday, R.A.T. Gallery's open mic in Gardenville. A pleasant secret revealed! Talk about eclecticism! After years of providing a welcoming, safe place for novice artists to display their musical and artistic talents, & for the community to encourage them, this venue is no longer open. Thanks for a great run!

Saturday, meeting friends at the new Buffalo Grill on the site of the former Cross Keys Pub. Rick Allen & the Upsetters played in the smokefree dining room. The bar is now smokefree too, with heaters outside during cold weather for the comfort of smokers.

Heather @ PUCK 2010 by DoylestownMusicScene.com.jpg Sunday afternoon a double-header. First, a great duo, The Overtones, on PUCK's patio, one I heard on a subsequent Friday at The Market At Delaware Valley College by Shady Brook Farm. Then, indoor/outdoor seating while listening to the crowd-pleasing Bill Sims Jr. & Daddy-O at Bobby Simone's.
